He had opposed the decision of the Polish government to recognize Kosovo's independence, reflecting thus a widespread feeling in the Polish public opinion.
During his last visit to Serbia, in 2009, Kaczynski reiterated his disagreement with the Polish government decision to recognize the unilateral declaration of Kosovo's independence.
„The democratically elected Polish government had the right to recognize Kosovo, but the decision was taken without the president's approval", he said.
Expressing his support to Serbia 's policy, Kaczynski expressed his conviction that the Kosovo problem can be resolved.
