State Secretary at the Ministry for Kosovo Oliver Ivanovic said that the tension will escalate in the north of the province if Kosovo Albanians persistently try to resolve all their political problems in a way that will provoke conflict.
Reminding that the north of Kosovo is the only part of the province where Serbs were able to survive the aggressive surge of Albanians, Ivanovic agreed with Ban Ki-moon's statement that the UN mission in Kosovo is necessary for all, adding that UNMIK should be strengthened.
Vice-President of the Kosovo Municipalities Assembly Marko Jaksic said the tensions in the north of the province have increased after disclosure of the so-called strategy for the integration of the northern part of Kosovo in Kosovo institutions, backed by the Kosovo Government and the International Civilian Representative, Pieter Feith.
