Romania continues to support its previous official stand on Kosovo, said Basescu at a joint press conference after his meeting with Albanian President Bamir Topi, Romanian national news agency Agerpres reports.

Romania did not recognize the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo, made by the province's ethnic Albanians, because that country believes that it violates international law, said reports.

Romania is one of five EU member states that have not recognized the declaration made in February 2008.
