The incidents included an explosion during a peaceful Serb protest in which one person was killed and 11 injured, as well as the shooting of a Kosovo assembly member that followed.
None of this would destabilize the security situation in Kosovo, said Fitzgerald, who heads NATO's Allied Joint Force Command Naples, and was on Tuesday visiting Kosovo.
"The security situation remains calm. The acts of violence in northern (Kosovska) Mitrovica are isolated and KFOR will continue to maintain control and a peaceful and safe envronment, which will be done in close cooperation with EULEX and the Kosovo police," Fitzgerald said, according to reports.
He called on the Kosovo police, KPS, and the EU mission, EULEX, to "be quick and professional" as they react to events "that affect the security situation".
KFOR Commander Markus Bentler said that the court in northern Kosovska Mitrovica would not begin working yet.
"I want to stress that all the rumors regarding the opening of the court in northern (Kosovska) Mitrovica are not true, however, KFOR will continue to work in order to secure a safe environment," Markus Bentler, KFOR's commader, said.
