As the ICJ did not confirm that Kosovo Albanians were entitled to secede from Serbia, the Resolution states that secession is not an acceptable method of resolving territorial issues.

The Resolution includes a call for dialogue aimed at reaching a mutually acceptable solution to all the open-ended issues through peaceful dialogue, in the interest of peace, security and cooperation in the region.

The resolution was submitted after consultations were held with many international factors, including all the UN SC member-states, the announcement reads.

Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic is currently in New York, where he will discuss the situation in Kosovo.

He is due to meet with the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

During his stay in New York, Jeremic will also address a forum of the Non-Aligned Movement and hold a number of meetings with ambassadors of UN member-states.

During those meetings, Jeremic will inform about Serbia's position after the advisory opinion of the ICJ and will present further steps that the government of Serbia had adopted as its strategy for defending the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Jeremic will also hold a number of consultations aimed at preparing for the session of the Security Council on Kosovo, which is scheduled for next week.
