KFOR: Decision pertains to four Serbian monasteries only

KFOR has announced that the decision to hand over protection of Serbian holy sites in Kosovo to the Kosovo Police pertains to only four Serbian monasteries in Kosovo - Gracanica, Budisavci, Gorioc and Zociste, but not to the Decani monastery, Pec Patriarchate, Devic and the Holy Archangels.

The statement reads that the Serbian Orthodox Church was kept informed throughout the of decision-making process that KFOR will not take any impulsive steps.

According to KFOR, the monastery of Gracanica is the first place to be secured by the Kosovo police, while the exact time for the other three monasteries  has not been determined yet.

Over the past few days, representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church and Serbian state officials strongly opposed the KFOR decision to hand over the protection of Serbian monasteries and churches in Kosovo to the Kosovo police.
