Kosovo Albanians blackmailing the international community, Lavrov says
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stormed the Western countries with criticism, saying that they were fueling Kosovo Albanian drive towards independence despite the fact that such a move directly contradicts international law and UN Security Council’s Resolution 1244.

"The cunning indifference of our Western partners toward violations by Kosovo Albanians and their attempts to avoid the appropriate actions to enforce the full implementation of the resolution inspired a psychological drive towards Kosovo's independence," Lavrov told Russian weekly "Itogi".
Lavrov, who is scheduled to discuss Kosovo matters with his U.S. counterpart Condoleezza Rice on the margins of Annapolis Middle East Summit, said that Russia will fight the Washington-inspired drive towards the independence by sticking firmly to provisions of the international law and territorial integrity of the UN member states.
Russian Foreign Minister blamed Kosovo Albanians for blackmailing the international community, as Pristina leaders warned of "possible outbreak of widespread violence" if province's future status fails short of independence.
"If such an argument could be taken as a criteria, we have to ask ourselves what has to happened to Palestine which was promised independency 60 years ago...and the magnitude of violence there cannot be even compared to one seen in Kosovo", Lavrov said.
