UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon appointed him to coordinate the process with the EU with the support of UN Representative in Belgrade Andrew Gilmour.

"Consequently, UNMIK pointed out to the EU the problems it believed should be resolved through the dialogue," Zannier told.

"The agenda and format of the talks will, of course, depend on the participants in the dialogue with the aid of the EU as key moderator," he said.

A few days ago, Zannier said that UNMIK would be involved in the future dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.

As the Pristina authorities are persistently trying to exclude the UN mission from the sphere of influence in Kosovo, Zannier complained in his last regular report to the UN Security Council that Kosovo Albanian media were engaged in an anti-UNMIK campaign.

"There are no new announcements on UNMIK's role in the dialogue except the UN secretary general's statement that the UN is ready to support the EU in facilitating the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina," the UNMIK chief said.

"In fact, the UN believes that the dialogue will provide a significant opportunity to start resolving many important issues which affect the daily life of all who live in Kosovo," Zannier stressed.
