Troika in final visit to Belgrade and Pristina

The final round of negotiations on the future status of Kosovo, held in Austrian spa of Baden last week, ended with no real breakthrough in sight, amid Kosovo Albanians' announcements that the province's parliament would declare independence early next year.

According to Western diplomats, the Troika will introduce basic elements of the future report to both sides, and, then, present the final evaluation of four-months-long process to the Contact Group and United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

Serbian officials already stated that they expect to be presented with a basic framework of the future report and engage in the debate on its final version.

"The most important thing is that the report contains a realistic description, which genuinely reflects the events that took place during the past months in Vienna, Brussels, London and New York." Serbian Minister for Kosovo Slobodan Samardzic said.

"It should show that Serbia came up with a number of excellent proposals, that it was flexible and that, on the other hand, the Albanian side only waited for the negotiations to end, that it has distanced itself from the main topic, spoke only about some post-status issues and refused to discuss the Serbian proposal," Samardzic said.
