He says that UNMIK heads should be charged with contempt of court for concealing evidence in the case of human organ trafficking in Kosovo.
"Back in 2008, we requested from the tribunal prosecutor to examine the allegations Carla Del Ponte made in her book, and we pointed to the obstructions caused by UNMIK, whose heads prevented any kind of an investigation against criminals in the territory of Kosovo," he told.
According to Ljajic, UNMIK claimed that they had no reports whatsoever regarding human trafficking and that there was no evidence, of which they also assured the Hague Tribunal. Soren Jessen-Petersen was the head of UNMIK at the time.
The head of the National Council for Cooperation with the Hague Tribunal said that the report by CoE Special Rapporteur Dick Marty also testified of the obstructions caused by UNMIK, and so did the reports by the UNMIK forensic team and Carla Del Ponte, as well as the Serbian War Crimes Prosecution. He pointed out that someone needed to be held responsible for such obstructions entail.
"Marty provided enough evidence to launch an investigation. However, during a painstaking investigation, the Serbian War Crimes Prosecution also came up with abundant evidence. Still, EULEX is the most likely candidate when it comes to initiating such actions, and we are working hard to get the international community to insist on this as well," Ljajic stated.
