A debate on Kosovo in the UN Security Council is scheduled on December 19, in the presence of high-ranking politicians from both Belgrade and Pristina, but no decisions are expected to be made by that date.
However, Russian envoy in negotiating process, Alexsandr Botsan-Kharchenko warned that the Security Council has to annul any unilateral declaration of independence, as announced by Kosovo's prime minister designate Hashim Thaci.
"We will do our best to keep the process within the framework of the SC Resolution 1244 and the international law. A unilateral declaration of independence would be a rather dangerous option, totally in conflict with international law", he said.
Commenting the essence of Troika's report, Botsan-Kharchenko said it does not contain any suggestions about the future status of Kosovo, but rather a comprehensive overview of more than 100 days of negotiations.
