Serbian FM to meet UN Secretary General, Security Council ambassadors
Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic is set to launch a last ditch diplomatic effort in New York on Thursday, in an attempt to persuade top-ranking UN officials and Security Council ambassadors for the necessity to continue talks between Belgrade and Pristina aimed towards a compromise solution of the Kosovo status issue.

Jeremic is scheduled to meet 20 ambassadors to the Security Council, as well as the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in Belgrade's final attempt to influence top international players in the need to define the status of Kosovo through negotiations, rather than unilateral moves, as announced by both the United States and the Kosovo Albanians.
He is meeting 20 ambassadors of the 15-member Security Council because the Contact Group Troika will present the report to the Council just weeks ahead of change of five non-permanent members of that body.
As of January 1, Congo, Qatar, Peru, Ghana and Slovakia will be replaced by Croatia, Costa Rica, Vietnam, Libya and Burkina Faso.
