They discussed preparations for the start of talks between Belgrade and Pristina, he told.

"This is a regular meeting in preparation for the talks," Stefanovic noted and added that the purpose of Cooper's visit is to settle on an agenda and a starting date with the two sides.

He specified he would be able to reveal more details and an exact date when talks will start early next week.

After the visit to Belgrade, Cooper met in Pristina with Edita Tahiri, who will head the Kosovo Albanian delegation.

According to a release issued by the government in Pristina, Cooper said that "preparations with both sides are going well, and stressed their importance for furthering the technical dialogue between Belgrade and Priština".

This was Cooper's second visit to Pristina in the last week.

Electronic media there report that expected topics in the dialogue include "customs checkpoints in the north, the Constitutional Court, missing persons and trade issues between Kosovo and Serbia".
