Work began at Lake Livocko near the town of Gnjilane, while the search for human remains is expected to continue at Zilivode near the town of Obilic in the next few days.

An EULEX spokesperson in Pristina said that the lake is being searched by the forensic medicine department of the Pristina-based Ministry of Justice, as well as by "divers of the Kosovo Security Forces".

Remains of 26 Serb victims are believed to be buried at 25 meters depth near Obilic, among them nine miners kidnapped in 1998.

The search at this location started in August of last year, but was interrupted "due to poor weather conditions".

Belgrade has also requested a mine clearing operation to be conducted at the Kosare location, as more Serb and other non-Albanian victims are believed to be buried there.
