"Speaking particularly of Kosovo, we could verify how close are our positions on the way to deal with the independence of Kosovo, taking into account the difficult overall situation in the region", Italian President Giorgio Napolitano said after the meeting with his U.S. counterpart George W. Bush in Washington.
President Bush, however, briefly addressed the issue saying that they "discussed Afghanistan, Lebanon, Kosovo".
Both U.S. - which is a pemanent member -- and Italy - which is presiding the UN SC this month -- are members of the 15-member UN Security Council which will debate Kosovo on December 19.
