"We want to take the dialogue to a political level, to hear from top political representatives directly that they are ready to get involved and after that we can define next steps in the process," he said at an international conference dubbed "Media and Equality" in Belgrade.
When asked whether he expected Serbian PM Ivica Dačić, who met with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton in Brussels on Friday, to meet with Kosovo PM Hashim Thaci, Degert said that it was too soon to answer that question.
Serbian parliament Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic said that Serbia had shown readiness to continue the dialogue with Priština.
"Serbia has shown that it is serious in its efforts to start solving problems that have been piling up, primarily problems of Serbs who live in Kosovo and to continue the negotiations," he stressed.
According to Stefanovic, the continuation of the Belgrade-Pristina talks is a condition for Serbia's further progress on the EU pathway.
When asked whether he expected Dacic and Thaci to meet in Brussels, he said that the question should be answered by somebody in the government.
