Ivanovic: Meeting in Brussels not a surprise

Former state secretary in the Ministry for Kosovo Oliver Ivanovic stated late on Friday that the meeting between High EU Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic and Kosovo Prime Minister Hasim Taci in Brussels comes as no surprise.

The meeting between Taci and Dacic is something that was discussed during the election campaign, but this topic was also addressed afterwards as a new idea of opening a political dialogue and raising it to a higher level, Ivanovic told the press.

However, he is not sure that the public is ready for this and whether someone might interpret this as a promotion of Pristina representatives as representatives of an equal political entity.

Ivanovic believes that everyone should be very careful but that Taci cannot be avoided as the other side of the negotiations since he is the only figure in Pristina who can take on the responsibility for the talks on sensitive political issues.
