Straight after the start of the protest, around 8 a.m., activists began throwing stones and rotten tomatoes at policemen, who responded with teargas.

The Pristina media reported that the police had arrested and then released Kurti, and MPs in the Kosovo Assembly - Ljiburn Aliu and Dzelalj Svecla.

There are injured people among both policemen and protesters.

The strong police forces have secured the seats of the Kosovo government and assembly since the early morning, and the protest is still ongoing.

The Serbian and Kosovo prime ministers met in Brussels on October 19 for the first time since the Albanian majority declared the secession of Serbia's southern province on February 17, 2008.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton acted as a mediator to the talks, and after the meeting she said that the agreement had been reached that the dialogue would be continued and that Dacic and Taci had pledged that they would work together.

Dacic told reporters in Brussels that the meeting had been held in line with Serbia's state policy on the non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo, and that the agreed dialogue would be a status-neutral process.

He noted that Serbia's leadership would soon hold a meeting to determine a platform for the dialogue with the authorities in Pristina, and announced that the next meeting should be held in November.
