The incident occurred late Monday in the immediate vicinity of the Serbian government's office for Kosovo and a building in which members of the fire brigade are situated.

According to eyewitnesses, an unknown person opened fire when the Albanian national flag was placed on one of electricity pylons, on the occasion of celebrating 100th anniversary of neighboring Albania's independence.

The Kosovo police have investigated the crime scene, Tanjug's correspondent reported.

The Bosnjacka Mahala neighborhood is one of several ethnically mixed parts of northern Kosovska Mitrovica where Serbs live together with ethnic Albanians.
