Govt office: Find and punish Suvi Do attackers

The Serbian government Office for Kosovo said in a statement on Wednesday that the stoning of a Kosovo Serb home in Suvi Do, a village near Kosovska Mitrovica, proves yet again that Albanian extremists would not cease their violence.

In the statement, the Office calls on the international community to find and punish the attackers and recalls that homes in Suvi Do have been burnt, burgled and stoned on a daily basis for months, and asks the international community whether letting attacks like this one go  unpunished helps to establish the rule of law in Kosovo.

"Serbia has always been ready to meet its obligations and we therefore ask the international community to stop the violence against Serbs and, in accordance with their mandate, make it possible for Serbs to live a life without fear and trepidation," reads the statement.

According to the locals, the latest incident occurred around 9 pm Tuesday. Windows were broken and the roof was damaged on the house of Rale Petronijevic, but he and his wife and three children were not hurt.

Petronijevic's home is located on the outskirts of the village and this is not the first time it has been attacked.

Around 40 Serb families live in Suvi Do, located three kilometers from Kosovska Mitrovica and surrounded by Kosovo Albanians.

The municipality of Kosovska Mitrovica recently financed a housing project in the village and gave away 36 apartments to Serb families.
