Grubjesic with CDU officials on EU, Kosovo

On the sidelines of the congress of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister for EU Integration Suzana Grubjesic conferred Tuesday with German officials about the country's support for Serbia's EU path, and once again reiterated Serbia's willingness to continue the talks with Pristina and fulfill the obligations taken on by the previous government.

Grubjesic, who is attending the annual CDU congress, had a number of meetings in Hanover on Tuesday. Among others, she met with Peter Beyer, rapporteur of Germany's Bundestag for Serbia, and Andreas Schockenhoff, vice president of the Christian Democratic Union/Christian Social Union group in the Bundestag.

"Serbia is truly committed to EU integration and the necessary reforms, especially in the judiciary, anti-corruption efforts, economic policy and public administration reform," Grubjesic told her interlocutors, the Serbian government's office for media relations released in a statement.

The deputy prime minister also said that Serbia sees Germany as its key partner in Europe.

German support is crucial for Serbia's EU integration and it is in Serbia's interest to work with Germany as close as possible, the statement says, adding that Germany is traditionally Serbia's largest trade partner.
