"In the initialed agreement, the two signatory sides, Serbia and the EU, explicitly obligate to implement the UN Charter, UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and the Helsinki Final Act. All these basic documents absolutely guarantee Serbia's sovereignty and territorial integrity in its current, internationally recognized borders," Samardzic said.

The minister also blasted the stand voiced by EU Foreign Security Policy High Representative Javier Solana that sending an EU mission to Kosovo was not a violation of international law.

"The announcement that the EU Council of Ministers could make a formal decision on sending an EU mission on Jan. 28 would not only be the crudest violation of international law and Resolution 1244, but would also tear down the initialed Stabilization and Association Agreement," the minister said.

Samardzic added that "international law must be implemented," which was why "the EU must not on Jan. 28 make the decision to unlawfully send an EU mission to Kosovo."
