Samardzic: Ban Ki Moon’s assessment is wrong

Serbian Minister for Kosovo Slobodan Samardzic said the assessment of the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon that prolonged stalemate over the future status of Kosovo would lead to further instability in the region was plain wrong.

"Chances are that the secession will cause instability, rather than struggle to impede secession," Samardzic said, underlining that the unilateral declaration of Kosovo's independence would encourage similar separatist movements in other parts of the world.

Samardzic also urged UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to pay closer attention to international law and be less interested for "separatist aspirations of militant members of ethnic minorities."
