Pavicevic: Agreement on customs reached

Working groups of Belgrade and Pristina have reached in Brussels an agreement on customs duties at integrated crossings on the administrative line between Kosovo and central Serbia, head of Belgrade's negotiating team Dejan Pavicevic stated.

"Vehicles with goods that are not subject to excise tax will be able to enter northern Kosovo without clearance, as well as with excise goods to three and a half tons," Pavicevic told the press late Tuesday after marathon talks that began seven days ago.

Pavicevic noted that documentation of the goods transported will be checked, but solely for statistics, not for customs duties.

He added that the agreement will enter into force on Thursday, December 20, at 8 a.m. CET.

Pavicevic underlined that this agreement only confirmed the agreement reached by Serbian and Kosovo Prime Ministers, Ivica Dacic and Hasim Taci respectively, in Brussels on December 7, during the latest round of political dialogue.

He also said that Belgrade's team took into account the interests of Serbs in northern Kosovo, but also the possibility of abuse of free imports.

If the other party obstructs the agreement on integrated crossings in any way, we are ready to suspend it, Pavicevic concluded.
