Dialogue with Pristina good for date of EU talks

Director of the Serbian government European Integration Office Milan Pajevic stated on Monday that the beginning of the Belgrade-Pristina talks on a higher level and in more intense form has a favourable effect on obtaining the date of initiation of accession talks with the EU.

During a programme broadcast by Radio and Television Serbia, Pajevic said that the developments in the previous several months since the initiation of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue between Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic and Kosovo Prime Minister Hasim Taci, considerably contributed to Serbia winning additional support.

He said that Serbia's credibility is increasing due to the obstacles which have been overcome in the so-called normalisation of relations with Kosovo, and added that he is using the term on purpose which the EU has been using for several years back.

The process is developing well and the manner in which local production is being adjusted is also encouraging and if the trend persists in the coming months, this is the formula according to which we may get the date of the talks with the EU soon, Pajevic said.

According to him, there are no negative reactions to the events in Belgrade and the Serbian government platform for Kosovo is being studied and examined in Brussels and EU member countries.

Certain partners and EU representatives will continue developing the document further in communication with the Serbian side and our representatives, Pajevic said and added that the platform is seen as the initial material for further talks.
