"The Serbian party wants to appoint a person who understands the political situation in Kosovo. The choice fell on Oliver Ivanovic, who, besides being from Kosovo, has excellent knowledge of Kosovo politics. Some talks with senior state officials have already been held, but we have yet to agree on all the details," a Kurir's source from the government said.

Ivanovic told the daily that informal talks on the issue did take place.

"It is true that there have been some informal talks, but no formal ones have occurred. I cannot confirm at this moment that I would accept something like that until I saw what exactly the liaison officer's would do," Ivanovic said.

According to Kosovo media, the candidates of the Kosovo party are Ilber Hisa, Iljir Dugoli, Ljuljzim Peci and Skendija Serifi Geci, while Kosovo Prime Minister Hasim Taci is the one to make the final choice.
