Aigner: Ambiguity should be used constructively

Austrian Ambassador to Serbia Johannes Aigner has said that the text of the Resolution on Kosovo is a little ambiguous and that the ambiguity should be used in the most constructive way possible.

In an interview he gave to Belgrade-based daily Danas, Aigner said that the draft resolution on Kosovo the Serbian government had submitted to the parliament was essentially a confirmation of the policy that had been pursued by all Serbian negotiators to date.

The whole approach is somewhere between fiction and reality, creating the ambiguity that should be used in the most constructive way possible, he said.

According to the Austrian ambassador, the essence of the resolution is seen in the view that it is necessary to lead the dialogue with Pristina on both technical and political levels, with the aim of achieving concrete results in specific areas, and in the desire to find a comprehensive solution benefiting all communities in Kosovo.

It is good that the resolution left room enough for any compromise decisions that both sides have to be willing to make if needs arise, said the Austrian ambassador.
