Kosovo's CoE membership is not on agenda
Gilbert Saboya, Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CoE), has said for Belgrade-based daily that Kosovo's possible membership in the CoE is not on the CoE's agenda at the moment.

Asked whether Kosovo had requested to become a CoE member, Saboya said no contacts had been established regarding the issue. The Committee of Ministers monitors the situation very closely, but there have been no such requests, he added.
When it comes to the policy concerning joining the institution, the relations with Kosovo in terms of support in cooperation and the like have already been agreed on, Saboya said, but Kosovo's membership is not a topic at the moment.
He believes that every initiative for a dialogue should be encouraged.
Certain improvements have been made in this regard and the CoE will support anything that can contribute to reconciliation in the region, said Saboya. CoE activities include mechanisms and initiatives to improve contacts between citizens, he added.
