Dacic: Serbia did not open issue of UN seat

Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic stated that neither Serbia nor anyone else at meetings held in Brussels had posed the question of a UN seat for Kosovo.

"Absolutely no one has ever posed this question in public or unofficial appearances or at meetings in Brussels," Dacic told RTS late Thursday.

There are pressures not to interfere with Kosovo's membership in certain international organizations, he said, adding that this is well-known and that this has been spoken about publicly in the EU.
"This issue is absolutely unacceptable for use without a comprehensive solution to the problem of Kosovo-Metohija," the prime minister stressed.

He also said that something like this could be talked about only if a complete solution is discussed.

German Ambassador to Serbia Heinz Wilhelm stated on Thursday that Kosovo's membership in the UN is an issue that needs to be put on the table in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue in Brussels.

Later that day, he said that the question as to whether Kosovo would be granted a seat at the United Nations is not a topic for today, but rather a possible outcome of the political dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
