Jeremic: Serbia committed to a compromise on EU mission to Kosovo
Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said on Wednesday in Brussels, after meeting European Enlargement Commissionner Olli Rehn, that Belgrade remained committed to a compromise on the resolution of the status of Kosovo as well as on the sending of a EU mission to the province.

"We are in favor of pursuing processes which could open the chance to find a compromise on the questions of sending the mission as well as on the status of Kosovo (...) we will continue supporting such a stance and we will bring it up at the next session of the UN Security Council" on January 16, Jeremich said.
"I would not speculate about chances of it happening, but we remain fully committed to finding a compromise about all questions, including on finding a legal framework for sending a European mission to Kosovo", Jeremic added.
He underlined that such a solution must include "an adequate decision of the UN Security Council".
The EU intends to send its ESDP mission to Kosovo, but has failed so far to reach an agreement on the legal basis for this move.
Belgrade opposes the sending of the mission unless it is backed by the UN Security Council and does not imply the beginning of the implementation of the Ahtisaari plan on "conditional independence" of Kosovo.
