Nikolic, Jahjaga to meet in Brussels on February 6

The first meeting between Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga will be held in the cabinet of the High EU Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, The press learnt from the president's cabinet, as confirmed by diplomatic sources in Brussels.

According to the statement issued by the president's cabinet, the meeting will be held upon the return of President Nikolic from his official visit to Turkey.

Tanjug's source in Brussels could not specify the agenda of the meeting, but they noted that it primarily aims to additionally reinforce the dialogue which is already being carried out on the level of prime ministers and expert teams.

A greater number of contacts on various levels entail better chances for the normalization of relations, the diplomat said and recalled that visible and sustainable progress in this area is the key condition for Serbia to win the date of EU accession talks in mid-2013.

According to the information Tanjug learnt in the presidency, the protocol of the meeting between Nikolic and Jahjaga will be the same as that of the latest meeting between Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic and Kosovo Prime Minister Hasim Taci, who conferred in Brussels on four occasions.

The protocol envisages that Nikolic and Jahjaga would first have separate meetings with Ashton, after which they would meet over an official dinner.Although the plan and the topics to be tabled on the occasion have not been finalized yet, the meeting will indubitably be of major importance.

The presidency underscored that there is a chance all open issues and topics in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue would be discussed on February 6.
