Several dozen people including politicians, most of them members of the Social Democratic Party, waved Serbian flags and carried a large banner with the inscription 'Kosovo belongs to Serbia'.
In addition to representatives of political and public institutions, the protesters were addressed by President of the association 'Friends of Serbs in Kosovo' and MP in the Czech parliament Jaroslav Foldyna. In the invitation for the protest in downtown Prague posted on the website of the Czech association and its Facebook profile, the association noted that 'robbing the Republic of Serbia of its southern province of Kosovo constitutes a grave violation of the international law, the UN Charter and the Helsinki Final Act.'
Nobody has the right to change the borders by force or compulsion, the invite states, adding that Kosovo's declaration of independence and the fact that it was recognised by some countries, including the Czech Republic, can be seen as an introduction of the 'law of the jungle' into international relations.
The organisers of the protest in Prague underscored that they want to live in a world where international agreements are respected. The gathering under the same title was organised by the association 'Poles for Serbian Kosovo' in Warsaw on Saturday, and the association stated in the invitation for the protest that 'Poles know well what fragmentation of the country and robbery of historical countries mean.'
