Hundreds of Kosovo Serbs, non-Albanians still missing

Coordinator of the Association of the Families of People Kidnapped and Gone Missing in Kosovo Milorad Trifunovic stated on Tuesday that the authorities are still looking for 541 Serbs and non-Albanians gone missing in the province in 1998 and 1999.

In an interview for Kosovska Mitrovica-based radio Kontakt Plus, Trifunovic said that members of the Association and families of the kidnapped and missing people would gather in Kosovska Mitrovica on June 22 to mark the 15th anniversary of the first mass kidnapping of Serbs in Kosovo, when miners of the Belacevac mine were kidnapped. The Association of Families of People Kidnapped and Gone Missing in Kosovo gather 164 families from the province, 43 of them from northern Kosovska Mitrovica, Trifunovic said. The data of the International Red Cross show that a total of 6,021 missing persons' cases were registered in Kosovo in the period from 1999 to 2000, and 1,754 of them are still reported missing.
