DSS: Exchange of officers further erosion of Serbia
The exchange of liaison officers between Belgrade and Pristina is further erosion of the state of Serbia and a new step toward the recognition of Kosovo's independence, spokesman for the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) Petar Petkovic said Monday.

"The independence of the false state of Kosovo is recognized through this step, because there can be no exchange between Serbia and a part of its territory," Petkovic told a news conference. Petkovic invited all opponents of the Brussels agreement between Belgrade and Pristina, of the closure of Serbian institutions in Kosovo and of Serbia's EU accession to take part in a protest walk the party will organize on June 28. June 28 is the date when the Battle of Kosovo took place in 1389 and the day when the European Council will decide whether to set a date for opening accession talks with Serbia. Petkovic said Serbia is relinquishing Kosovo in exchange for the date, which will help it no more than gaining candidate status has. "Ever since we got the candidacy, the situation in Serbia has gotten worse by the day. Now this government is telling us the date will make things better. This is pure nonsense and deception, because things in Serbia will continue to get worse," said Petkovic, reiterating his party's position that Serbia should be politically neutral and turn to itself. Belgrade and Pristina exchanged liaison officers at noon Monday, when Dejan Pavicevic and Ljuljzim Peci assumed their respective posts at the EU Office in Pristina and at the EU Mission in Belgrade.
