Kosovska Mitrovica celebrates day of Pristina University

The Faculty of Technical Sciences in Kosovska Mitrovica hosted a formal ceremony to mark the day of Pristina University with the temporary seat in the city in northern Kosovo.

Rector of the Pristina University Srecko Milacic stated at the ceremony that the University of Serbia was and remains the backbone of Serbian identity and a sign of Serbian statehood in Kosovo. Assistant Minister of Education Slobodan Stupar said that 43 years of the Pristina University is not a short period of time and added that many countries in the region have been around for a period ten times shorter. He underscored that the Ministry of Education backed and will continue to back the Pristina University. Rector of the Belgrade University Vladimir Bumbasirevic attended the celebration of the day of the Pristina University and said that the institution would have the support of the Belgrade and all other universities from central Serbia. The ceremony was attended by Bishop Teodosije of Raska and Prizren, representatives of the Ministry of Education, heads of Kosovo administrative districts, mayors of northern Kosovo municipalities, the rector of the university in Banja Luka in Republika Srpska and other guests. Over 10,000 students are attending the 10 faculties of the Pristina University with the temporary seat in Kosovska Mitrovica, and the University also employs 746 professors and assistants and around 350 other staff.
