DSS: Shift in chess pieces, not tactics

The opposition Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) believes the government reshuffle "will not bring more efficiency on the issue of Kosovo."

Samardžić reiterated the DSS position that instead of a reshuffle, early elections should be called in order to change public policy. He said the DSS does not expect elections because the government has been given an ultimatum by Brussels and Berlin to convince Kosovo Serbs to vote in the local election in November, which he says is a condition Serbia must fulfill if it wants to start EU membership negotiations next January. Samardzic said elections are also necessary because of "the government's catastrophic results" during its first year in office and again stressed the party's opposition to the Brussels agreement between Belgrade and Pristina.
