In the 120-seat assembly, 56 MPs voted in favor of the bill, while 17 were opposed and two abstained. The bill's passage requires the support of more than half of the total MPs and the majority of MPs representing minority communities. Adem Grabovci, the whip for the ruling Democratic Party of Kosovo, asked the speaker for another vote but his motion was rejected. The bill on the protection and promotion of the rights of members of minority communities envisages the appointment of another representative of northern Kosovo Serbs to the consultative council which is part of the office of Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga.
