The beneficiaries of refunds from central Kosovo blocked the gate of the Kosovo District building in Gracanica by locks and chains. The Caglavica-based KiM Radio reported that this measure was carried out because the beneficiaries are dissatisfied with irregular payment of temporary refunds and minimal wages.Head of the Kosovo District Vladeta Kostic told gathered reporters that he understands the workers' concern but the problem cannot be solved through pressures or blocks.Momcilo Nedeljkovic of the Gracanica protest organisation board said that blocks will continue until their requests are met and until overdue refunds are paid.According to him, workers from Novo Brdo will join the protesters on Thursday. We were promised that seven overdue payments would be made and this has not been done yet, which is why we decided to continue with protests, Nedeljkovic said. The complex of blocked buildings gathers the District seat, a department of the Office for Kosovo, Office for education and extension departments of High School of Economics and the Faculty of Philosophy.Trade union representatives from dozen public enterprises from Leposavic and employees in public enterprises from Gracanica are still blocking the highway from Kosovska Mitrovica to Raska in Donje Jarinje and they are demanding the payment of overdue funds. On Tuesday morning, the protesters blocked the highway at the spot where old administrative crossing Jarinje used to be, in the vicinity of KFOR military base and they are taking shifts guarding the block. The Serbian government is required to pay the overdue temporary refunds, adjust the refunds with the minimal wages and return the displaced and newly-employed workers to the lists of beneficiaries of refunds and minimal wages.
