Milan Markovic, the driver of the van, told The press that it carried five passengers and none of them got hurt. “Minor damage was caused to the vehicle, and the van was stoned near a school in the neighborhood inhabited by Albanians,” Markovic explained. He said it is not the first time buses and vans carrying Serbs are attacked and he reported the incident to the Kosovo police. About 200 Serbs live in the village of Suvi Do, a multiethnic village a few kilometers away from Kosovska Mitrovica. A residential building for Serbs was built in the village recently, with money provided by the Municipality of Kosovska Mitrovica. Incidents are aimed at scaring Serbs away from elections. The Serbian government's Office for Kosovo condemned Monday a stoning of a van carrying Serbs in northern Kosovo that took place in the morning on the same day, stating that the almost daily violence in the province is aimed at bringing down the Brussels agreement and putting the local Serbs in fear before the upcoming local elections. Today's stoning was aimed at frightening the Serbs and scaring them away from the upcoming local elections in the province, the Office said in a release, demanding from competent bodies to find and punish the perpetrators of this and other crimes in Kosovo immediately. Only if it is acted in this way can all citizens in Kosovo, regardless of their ethnicity, have a peaceful and secure life, the release said. The release points out that the stoning of the van carrying Serbs from the village of Suhi Do to the city of Kosovska Mitrovica in northern Kosovo, which occurred around noon today, is just another in a series of attacks on Serbs in the last few days. None of the five people in the vehicle was injured. Suvi Do is a multiethnic village a few kilometers away from Kosovska Mitrovica with about 200 Serbs living in it.
