The participants, who came from Kosovska Mitrovica and other municipalities in the north of the southern Serbian province, were carrying Serbian state flags and banners, and the traffic in the city was regulated by the Kosovo police and stopped in the main street during the walk.
After the walk, organized by the staff for boycotting the elections of the Provisional Assembly of the Autonomous Province (AP) of Kosovo, the participants were addressed by former Democratic Party (DS) MP Dragisa Djokovic, former Belgrade city official Vladimir Rakic and French humanist writer and historian Yves Bataille. Criticizing the government in Belgrade for its decision to urge the KiM Serbs to vote in the local elections in the province, they pointed out that it is the most direct way to recognize the independence of Kosovo. The Provisional Assembly of AP Kosovo, which organized today's protest, was founded in the northern KiM town of Zvecan on July 4 by members of the four Serb majority northern Kosovo municipalities despite opposition from Belgrade.
