The participants at the head of the column of protesters carried Serbian state flags, a huge banner with the inscription “Kosovo is Serbia” and banners urging citizens to boycott the local elections. The protesters were addressed by Chairman of the Serbian National Council (SNV) of Kosovska Mitrovica Nebojsa Jovic and member of the anti-election staff Dragan Kisic. Jovic said it is not true that the forthcoming local elections are status-neutral since if it was the case, they would have had to be called by UNMIK or the OSCE. He pointed out that the elections have not been called by the Serbian parliament speaker but rather by the president of the so-called independent Kosovo and they are not being conducted according to the Serbian law but rather by the law of the so-called independent Kosovo. The Community of Serb municipalities, which will be formed after the election, will be an institution and part of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo, Jovic warns.
