Vice President of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) Slobodan Samardzic urged citizens to boycott the local elections that had been called by Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga. You should not go to the polls, as your votes would only confirm that the northern part of the province is part of the false state of Kosovo (which was unilaterally proclaimed by ethnic Albanians) and that you would live according to its laws, said Samardzic, who criticized authorities in Belgrade for their approach to the province. MP of the interim assembly of the autonomous province of Kosovo Kosta Galjak, former head of the Kosovska Mitrovica district Radenko Nedeljkovic, MP in the Serbian parliament Borislav Pelevic and official of the Dveri movement Bosko Obradovic also called for boycott. During the rally, officials presented a proclamation by Serbs in northern Kosovo, underscoring that the forthcoming elections are “illegitimate and unacceptable for the Serb people and municipalities in northern Kosovo.”
