Discussions held on Thursday in Brussels between Pristina and Belgrade on the subject ended without an agreement and will continue today, according to Radio Kontakt Plus from Kosovska Mitrovica. Although not confirmed, this could be the reason for the latest postponement of the meetings that should be held in Leposavic, Zubin Potok, northern Kosovska Mitrovica and Zvecan. During the talks in Brussels, Pristina has been asking that councilors and mayor take the oath in accordance with the laws of Kosovo, while Belgrade and Serbs in the north insist that these proceeding be status-neutral. Inaugural meetings of the four municipalities in northern Kosovo, originally scheduled for December 24, were postponed at the request of the Serbian government, and the European Union. Pristina's Ministry of Local Government announced then that the four municipalities in northern Kosovo "did not fulfill the legal requirements to hold ceremonial sessions."
