Rikalo: CEC does not have authority in Pantic's case
Member of the Kosovo Central Electoral Commission (CEC) Nenad Rikalo stated that further procedure following the decision of Krstimir Pantic not to accept the office as mayor of northern Kosovska Mitrovica is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Local Self-Government and not CEC.

“CEC is not the institution with the power to decide on this. This matter should be under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Local Self-Government. Further developments will depend on the decision of the Ministry and it is a well-known fact that only the president of Kosovo can supervise the appointment of mayors,” Rikalo told the news. Well-informed sources told Tanjug that the president of Kosovo should, based on the decision by the Ministry for Local Self-Government and in keeping with the constitutional powers, adopt the decision on re-run vote for northern Kosovska Mitrovica mayor but not for the councillors. Late on Saturday, special sessions were held in northern Kosovo during which councillors and a majority of mayors signed official statements and assumed office, but Pantic and a few councillors in northern Mitrovica refused to sign the document. The staging of special sessions in Leposavic, Zvecan, northern Mitrovica and Zubin Potok was supervised by representatives of the Kosovo Ministry of Administration and Local Self-Government, EU Office in Kosovo and OSCE.
