The Ministry discussed on Monday the report on the elections and the constitutive sessions of four municipalities in north Kosovo. The Ministry concluded that the constitutive sessions of all four Serb-dominated municipalities in north Kosovo were held in line with the law on local government and they have full legitimacy in the implementation of the established competencies, Kosovo Minister of Local Government Administration Slobodan Petrovic told the Press. “The mayors in the municipalities of Leposavic, Zubin Potok and Zvecan took oaths in keeping with the law, and they also have the legitimacy to perform these duties,” he said.Pantic refused to take the oath of office as North Mitrovica mayor and resigned as deputy director of the Serbian government's Office for Kosovo. Pantic told Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti on Monday that he did not want to sign the oath bearing the coat of arms and inscription of the republic of Kosovo, which were covered with a sticker, since in so doing he would violate the Constitution of Serbia. Serbia does not recognize Kosovo's independence which was unilaterally declared by ethnic Albanians in February 2007.
