Krstimir Pantic of Citizens' Initiative Srpska recently won the run-off mayoral elections in northern Kosovska Mitrovica, but later refused to sign the oath of office. He said that he did not want to sign the oath bearing the coat of arms and inscription of the republic of Kosovo, which were covered with a sticker, since in so doing he would violate the Constitution of Serbia. Pantic previously resigned as deputy director of the Serbian government's Office for Kosovo. Kosovo's central election commission will undertake all procedures required for organising and holding the mayoral elections in North Mitrovica, calling on all citizens with the right of vote to take part in the repeat elections.
