EU completes preparations for its mission to Kosovo
Ambassadors of EU member countries completed preparations for the Union's rule of law mission to Kosovo and passed on the "Joint Action" document for adoption to the ministerial level.
The Joint Action could be adopted by EU ministers next week.
Meanwhile, Enlargement commissionner Olli Rehn said the EU was ready to take on responsibility for the situation in Kosovo amid preparations for a unilateral declaration of independence.
"By sending the mission, we're prepared to assume part of the responsibility in the area of the rule of the law, and contribute to the civilian mission in Kosovo," Rehn said.
Serbia is opposed to the EU's sending of the ESDP mission without a prior UN Security Council decision
