Kostunica calls for urgent meeting of parliament over EU mission.

Kostunica's move was triggered by Monday's decision of the EU to adopt the legal and financial basis for the EU mission to Kosovo.

"The EU decision to illegally send its mission to Kosovo in order to implement the failed Ahtisaari plan on the independence of Kosovo represents a confident announcement that the Albanian separatists will very shortly proclaim a unilateral independence of the province", Kostunica said.

The Prime minister said the EU decision directly violates the sovereignty, territorial integrity and constitutional order of Serbia.

"The decision about the illegal sending of the mission means that the EU, together with the Albanian separatists and against all norms of international law, is creating a false Albanian state on the territory of Serbia", he said.

"That is why the proposal by the EU to sign the political agreement with Serbia, while at the same time sending a mission to break up our country, represents a deceit with the objective that Serbia - by signing the agreement with the EU - in fact signs on the independence of Kosovo and becomes the first state to inderectly recognize the independence of Kosovo", the Prime minister said.

Kostunica said the "Serbian parliament must meet immediately, before a unilateral independence of Kosovo, and adopt decision on the EU mission and the EU political agreement offer in line with the Constitution and the adopted resolutions".
