Alleged Kosovo Gangster Accused of Inciting Murder
The EU rule-of-law mission in Kosovo has charged Enver Sekiraqa, who is believed to be an international player in organized crime, with inciting the murder of a policeman in 2007.

A EULEX press release on Thursday said the defendant was charged with inciting another to commit the murder of Kosovo police officer Triumf Riza alongside other offences.Riza was shot dead in Pristina by a hitman suspected of working for Enver Sekiraqa in August 2007.Sekiraqa fled after murder and was first reported to be hiding in Serb-run northern Kosovo and later in Ireland.The Kosovo authorities issued an arrest warrant for him in 2008, and for two others, Rrahim Rrahman Avdullahu and Ilir Ymer Avdullahu, who remains at large.Three other individuals have since been convicted of the aggravated murder of Riza.Sekiraqa, who is believed to be a major figure in international organized crime, has been in detention since January 2014.He is sought by Interpol also over allegations of murder, rape, other sexual crimes, organised crime and theft.In September 2007, Sekiraqa’s restaurant in Pristina was damaged by a bomb, which it was later found was planted by six police officers and which killed two people in a nearby cafe and injured others.
