Part of the ethnic-Albanian assembly members abstained from the vote, while the others voted against, said a statement released after the closed-door session. The meeting, which lasted just over four hours, was convened to continue the third regular session of the North Mitrovica municipal assembly, which started on April 25.The assembly requested that the central electoral commission act by the law and approve the mandates of assembly members whose names appeared on the electoral slates of Oliver Ivanovic's Citizens' Initiative Serbia, Democracy, Justice and Citizens' Initiative Srpska. The assembly also advised the commission against politicising the decision on the matter, adding that the assembly members have been waiting for 36 days for their mandates to be certified. In addition, it called on the ministry to establish technical conditions for normal operation of the assembly, the statement said. The amendments to the statute and its alignment with Kosovo laws are the condition for verification of the mandates and establishment of a community of Serb municipalities in Kosovo.
